Ben and I started a process of writing 1 to 4-line songs and sending them to one another. The chorus of this fairly short song was born from this process. Typical Hot Seats fare - the paranoia of the road musician, and a chance to rhyme "stuff" with "stuff".
lyrics
Well baby, I know that ive been traveling out of town
And while I've been stepping out, youve been staying in
but darling now i'm home, and you don't seem so lonely
and i wonder if there's something you're not saying
His hammers in my junk drawer, since you let him in the back door, and now another man is stuffing his stuff where my stuff used to be
If you want me to, I'll be coming over
We can play house and we can pretend
Be baby don't be mad when I get up early
Leaving is how I make a living, and this highway never ends.
Ken Landreth is one of my favorite banjo players of all time. This whole album is amazing! Makes me miss those hot sunny days in the Mt. Airy flatlands watching these guys shred. altacke
